Passive video balun for analog HD

This passive video balun converts analog HD TVI AHD CVI signals between BNC and a single unshielded twisted pair. It requires no external power supply and installs with press-in terminals. The unit supports 24 to 16 AWG wire and fits point-to-point CCTV runs.

Thermal and power profile

The device operates from minus ten to fifty degrees Celsius in humidity up to ninety five percent. As a passive component it draws no power and generates no heat or noise. DC loop resistance is fifty two ohms per one thousand feet or eighteen ohms per one hundred metres.

Build quality and daily use

The compact housing measures thirty six by sixteen by nineteen millimetres and weighs eighteen grams. Built-in transient protection guards against surges while super interference rejection keeps the signal clean. Transmission reaches two hundred fifty metres at seven twenty p or ten eighty p without crosstalk.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the UTP wires to the press-in terminals without soldering?

Strip each conductor, insert the bare wire into the press-in terminal, and press down firmly; the spring-loaded clamp grips 24-16AWG (0.5-1.31mm) solid or stranded wire without tools.

Will the built-in transient protection need replacement after a surge event?

The transient protection is a non-replaceable component designed to absorb voltage spikes; if a severe surge occurs the entire balun should be replaced.

At what distance does 1080p video quality start to degrade over CAT5?

1080p transmission is rated up to 250 metres; beyond that distance signal attenuation and DC loop resistance of 52 ohms per 1,000 ft can reduce image quality.
