It ships with a pre-installed 1 TB hard drive and supports up to 4 TB of storage capacity. The system records at up to 480 frames per second across all channels using H.264 compression for efficient disk usage.

Recording limits and network access

Video is captured at D1, Half-D1 or CIF resolution with a maximum combined rate of 480 fps. Pentaplex operation allows simultaneous live view, recording, playback, network streaming and backup. Remote viewing is available via included Central Management Software compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7. The tower case houses the recorder and drive bays; a monitor is not included.

Compatibility checks before ordering

Verify that your cameras use analogue connections compatible with a 16-channel DVR input layout. Confirm the installed 1 TB drive meets your retention needs or plan for an additional drive up to the 4 TB limit. Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16-channel version or a smaller one?

The DVS-9448 is a 16-channel DVR with a 1 TB drive already installed and capacity for up to 4 TB, so choose it when you need to record from the maximum number of cameras at once.

What does 480 FPS mean for daily recording?

480 FPS total recording rate lets the system capture every channel at full D1 resolution in real time without dropping frames.

How does the H.264 codec affect storage and remote access?

H.264 compression fits more footage on the installed 1 TB drive and keeps network streams light enough for remote viewing over standard broadband.
