Mobile single-pass document scanner

The Brother DS-640 is a compact single-pass scanner powered entirely by a Micro USB 3.0 connection. It captures colour and monochrome pages at up to 16 ppm with an optical resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. The unit weighs 1.02 lbs and measures 11.90 x 2.20 x 1.40 inches for easy transport.

Upgrade from flatbed or sheet-fed models

Replacing a flatbed scanner removes the need to lift a lid for every page and cuts scan time per sheet. The jump is worth it when daily volumes include mixed batches of receipts, invoices and plastic ID cards up to 72 inches long. It is not for buyers who need automatic double-feed detection or a built-in document feeder for unattended runs.

Fits a USB bus-powered workflow

The scanner draws approximately 2.3 W while scanning and 1.3 W in ready mode, so it runs from a laptop port without an external adapter. Included Windows and Mac software routes scans to file, image, OCR, email and cloud destinations. Linux support is provided through standard drivers. It does not suit setups that require Ethernet or Wi-Fi network scanning.
