Connect four drives with one SFF-8087 port

This 1.6 ft forward breakout cable links an SFF-8087 male connector on a SAS HBA or RAID controller to four SATA 7-pin female connectors on hard drives or SSDs. The 90-degree right-angle SATA ends ease routing in tight drive cages or backplanes. Copper conductors rated for 6 Gbit/s per drive carry the data. It is built for internal storage expansion in servers or workstations.

Host side must be the controller, not the backplane

The SFF-8087 36-pin male plug with locking latch is designed to attach only to a SAS controller or HBA. Connecting this end to a backplane will prevent the link from working. Each of the four SATA targets supports up to 6 Gbit/s. The cable uses 30 AWG conductors and is labelled to simplify cable management.

Flexible 30 AWG wires

Thin, tangle-free construction lets the assembly bend around dense drive bays without stressing ports. Locking latches on both the Mini SAS and SATA ends secure the connection against vibration. The critical error is plugging the SFF-8087 host connector into a backplane instead of the controller; doing so breaks the signal path.
