Connects a Mini-SAS SFF-8087 controller to four SATA drives with locking latches at 6 Gbps per drive
This BUCIER cable splits a single SFF-8087 Mini-SAS port into four SATA connectors. It links a host controller or RAID card directly to up to four hard drives or solid-state drives. The 3.3ft length suits typical server or workstation chassis routing. Professionals expanding internal storage use this forward breakout to add drive bays without extra controllers.
The cable replaces a direct backplane link when the backplane lacks an SFF-8087 input. It is worth fitting when a RAID card or HBA exposes only Mini-SAS ports but the target drives use standard SATA interfaces. Do not connect the SFF-8087 end to a backplane; the pinout is host-to-target only. Each SATA lane runs at 6 gigabits per second.
The 30 AWG conductors are thin and flexible, easing routing in tight bays. Both the 36-pin Mini-SAS plug and the four 7-pin SATA plugs carry locking latches for secure seating. A common error is reversing host and target ends; the SFF-8087 side must attach to the controller. Labels on each SATA tail help match drives to ports during assembly.

The host end uses an internal SFF-8087 36-pin male connector with a locking latch.
Plug the SFF-8087 male end into the HBA or RAID controller and the four SATA 7-pin female ends into the drives; do not connect the SFF-8087 side to a backplane.
The locking latches on both the SFF-8087 and SATA connectors can loosen with repeated mating cycles; reseat or replace the cable if a latch no longer holds firmly.
