What this switcher does

The BZBGEAR BG-8K-22MA is a 2x2 HDMI 2.1 matrix switcher that routes two sources to two displays independently. It handles 8K60 4:2:0 10-bit, 8K30 4:4:4 10-bit and 4K120 4:4:4 10-bit signals at 40Gbps bandwidth. HDCP 2.3 compliance and VRR, FVA, ALLM support suit professional A/V, home-theatre and gaming installations. Audio de-embedding sends sound to external systems via optical or analogue outputs.

Bandwidth and resolution ceiling

The single specification that decides fit is the 40Gbps HDMI 2.1 path with full 8K60 4:2:0 and 4K120 4:4:4 support. If a source or display needs higher than 40Gbps, or 8K60 4:4:4, this unit will not pass the signal. EDID management mimics connected displays to keep handshakes stable across both outputs.

Connections and build integration

Two HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs use 19-pin Type A connectors. De-embedded audio leaves through one optical S/PDIF port and one 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack. The chassis measures 145mm wide, 68mm deep and 17mm high, weighing 268g, so it fits in shallow racks or behind displays. No external power-brick dimensions are given; verify the supplied adapter matches your mains voltage.

Questions about this item

What does the 40Gbps bandwidth actually deliver on my screen?

It carries 8K at 60Hz 4:2:0 10-bit, 8K at 30Hz 4:4:4 10-bit or 4K at 120Hz 4:4:4 10-bit with HDR pass-through.

How does the HDMI 2.1 interface limit what I can connect?

Each HDMI 2.1 port handles 40Gbps, so 8K60 4:2:0 or 4K120 4:4:4 are the practical ceilings; longer cables may need active fibre to keep full speed.

Will the unit fit in a 1U rack shelf or behind a tight TV mount?

At 145mm wide, 68mm deep and 17mm high it sits flat in a 1U tray or behind most low-profile mounts.
