Reach extension for 20A equipment

This one-foot NEMA 5-20P to 5-20R extension cord adds reach between a wall outlet, power strip or surge protector and any standard three-prong device cord. The moulded plugs and strain relief provide a secure connection for computers, monitors, appliances and shop equipment. Rated 12 AWG, 20A at 125V, it uses a three-conductor grounded copper core inside an SJT jacket. UL Listed and CSA certified (file E210037), RoHS compliant.

Sustained-load behaviour

The 12 AWG copper conductors are rated for continuous 20A service at 125V, so the cord handles full-load operation from heavy-duty equipment without overheating. The SJT jacket is rated for indoor environments such as offices, labs and workshops; it is not intended for wet or outdoor locations. The fully grounded three-wire design maintains safety grounding throughout the extension.

12 AWG gauge decision

The wire gauge determines the maximum safe current: 18 AWG for up to 10A, 16 AWG for up to 13A, 14 AWG for up to 15A, and this 12 AWG for up to 20A equipment.
