Cable Leader Cat6a 6ft Slim Ethernet Cable

The Cable Leader Cat6a patch cord is a 6-foot orange LAN cable built to the Cat6a standard for 10 Gigabit wired connections. It uses 28AWG bare copper conductors in four twisted pairs with gold-plated RJ45 contacts on each end. The ultra-slim 4.0 mm jacket makes it suited for high-density patch panels, server racks and data center cabinets. It is backward compatible with Cat6 and Cat5e networks for a direct upgrade.

Sustained 10 Gigabit throughput over 100 meters

The cable is rated for 10GBASE-T at 500MHz across the full 100-meter Cat6a channel distance, not just short links. The 28AWG bare copper pairs and 50-micron gold-plated contacts maintain low resistance and reduced crosstalk during continuous high-speed traffic. Backward compatibility ensures it performs reliably when connected to existing Cat6 or Cat5e ports without reconfiguration.

Thermals airflow and power in dense racks

The slim 4.0 mm outer diameter improves airflow around switches and servers compared with standard 6.9 mm Cat6a cords, helping to reduce heat buildup in busy cabinets. The transparent snagless boot protects the locking clip during frequent routing and re-patching without adding bulk. As a passive copper cable it draws no power and adds no active noise to the installation.

Questions about this item

Does the 4.0 mm slim jacket change how much heat the cable adds in a fully loaded rack?

The 4.0 mm outer diameter leaves more open space between cables, so airflow across switches and servers improves and the bundle contributes less retained heat than standard 6.9 mm cords.

What must my switch or patch panel provide for this cable to work?

Any standard RJ45 port — Cat6a, Cat6 or Cat5e — will accept the 8P8C plug; the cable is backward compatible and needs no special port type or configuration.

Will the 28 AWG conductors and gold-plated contacts still link at 10 Gbit with my older Cat5e patch panel?

Yes — the cable meets the Cat6a 500 MHz specification and is fully backward compatible, so it will negotiate 10GBASE-T up to 100 m on Cat6a links and fall back to the highest speed the Cat5e panel supports.
