External HD Mini SAS SFF-8644 Cable

This CableCreation cable connects storage devices or controllers that use the SFF-8644 interface. It is built for servers, workstations and external enclosures that require a direct mini SAS link. The 6.6 foot length suits rack-to-rack or rack-to-enclosure runs.

12 Gbps SAS 3.0 Interface

The cable complies with SAS 3.0 and supports data rates up to 12 Gbps. Actual throughput depends on the capabilities of the connected host controller and target drives. Buyers who need a faster signalling standard or a different connector type cannot use this cable.

Single Cable in Package

The box contains one SFF-8644 to SFF-8644 cord and no additional adapters or software. Installers must source any required brackets, drive trays or management utilities separately. The 24 month warranty covers the cable itself.

Questions about this item

What does the 12 Gbps headline speed mean when the cable is installed in a real machine?

The 12 Gbps figure is the interface ceiling; actual throughput depends on the controller, drives and backplane you connect.

Which standard does the SFF-8644 connector follow and what does it cap in practice?

The connector complies with SAS 3.0, limiting each lane to 12 Gbps and the overall link to the slowest device in the chain.

What physical space and mounting does the 6.6 ft cable need to fit?

At 6.6 ft long with SFF-8644 plugs on both ends, it requires clearance for the connector width and bend radius behind the chassis or rack.
