Connects an SFF-8644 Mini SAS HD port to four SATA drives for 6 Gb/s data transfer

  • Connects HBA card to four SATA drives
  • 3 ft length suits server chassis routing
  • Supports up to 6 GB/s data rate
  • SAS 2.1 compliant for broad RAID compatibility
  • Woven mesh sheath with locking latches aids airflow

External Mini SAS HD cable

This 3.3 FT cable connects an SFF-8644 host port to four SATA drives. It is built for servers and RAID arrays that need a fan-out from a single HBA connector. The woven mesh sheath and locking latches keep airflow clear during 24/7 operation.

For RAID and HBA deployments

The cable suits administrators adding SSD or HDD capacity to a controller with an external SFF-8644 interface. It is not suited for systems that only provide internal mini SAS ports or different external connector types. Builders needing a direct SATA-to-SATA link should choose a different cable.

36-pin SFF-8644 host connector

The single specification that decides fit is the 36-pin SFF-8644 plug on the host side. If your controller presents this exact external Mini SAS HD port, the cable will carry data at up to 6 GB/s under SAS 2.1 compliance.

Questions about this item

Does the 3.3 FT cable include the four SATA drives or just the SFF-8644 to 4 SATA breakout cable itself?

The package contains only the SFF-8644 to 4 SATA breakout cable; drives must be purchased separately.

Which SAS specification does the SFF-8644 connector follow and what data rate does it support?

The connector follows SAS 2.1 and supports up to 6 GB/s per lane.

Will the 6 GB/s headline rate be reached when the cable connects an HBA card to four SATA SSDs?

Each SATA lane runs at up to 6 GB/s, but the actual throughput depends on the drive and controller capabilities.
