What this cable is and who it is for

This Cables To Go 00881 is a Category 6 shielded patch cable with RJ45 connectors on each end. It measures 6 ft (1.82 m) and uses an orange jacket for easy identification in a rack or cabinet.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Installers who need a short, shielded run between a switch and a patch panel or workstation will find it fit for purpose. Buyers who want an unshielded cable, a different colour or a longer reach should look at other options.

The specification that decides fit

The cable is built to the Cat 6 standard with screened shielded twisted-pair construction and snagless moulded boots. That combination determines whether it meets the noise-immunity and mechanical requirements of your installation.

Questions about this item

Will the snagless boot or the shielding need replacing after repeated plugging?

The moulded snagless boot protects the RJ45 clip from breakage during repeated insertion, and the screened shielded twisted-pair construction remains effective for the cable's service life.

What limits the 6 ft Cat6 shielded cable first during continuous high-throughput use?

The 6 ft length keeps attenuation well within Cat6 limits, so the bottleneck will be the switch or NIC port speed rather than the cable itself.

Does the shielded orange Cat6 cable generate noticeable heat or noise when run all day?

A passive copper patch cable produces no audible noise and negligible heat regardless of how long it carries data.
