What this cable is and who needs it

The Cables To Go 04018 is a Cat6 UTP patch cable with RJ-45 male connectors on both ends. At 6 ft (1.82 m) its orange jacket makes it easy to trace in a busy rack or behind a desk. It suits anyone linking a PC, console, printer or access point to a switch, router or patch panel where a short, snagless run is required.

Check your ports and routing before ordering

Both ends use standard RJ-45 plugs so any Gigabit Ethernet port will accept them. Verify the 6 ft reach covers the distance between your two devices without stretching or sharp bends. The snagless boots protect the locking tabs but add a little bulk; confirm there is enough clearance around tightly spaced ports on the switch or wall plate.

How it fits into a wired network build

As an unshielded Cat6 cable it carries 1 Gbps traffic over copper without needing grounded jacks or drain wires. The orange colour helps colour-code a patch panel by VLAN, floor or service type. It frees up longer cables for backbone runs while keeping the local connection tidy and the locking tabs intact.
