This 25-foot Cat6a patch cable is built for 10 Gigabit Ethernet links up to 10 Gbps. The snagless unshielded design suits home offices, small-business networks and data-centre patching where 10GBase-T ports are used. It connects network adapters, switches, routers, modems and patch panels without the bulk of shielded alternatives.

Bandwidth headroom for 10GBase-T

The cable meets ANSI/TIA 568 C.2 Cat6a component requirements and is tested for 10 Gigabit throughput. Bonded pair construction preserves twist spacing to the termination point, keeping Near-End Crosstalk low. It handles voice, data and video distribution simultaneously, but runs out of headroom beyond the 10 Gbps specification or in environments that demand shielded cabling.

Upgrade from Cat5e or Cat6 links

Replacing Cat5e or standard Cat6 patch cords with this Cat6a cable removes the bottleneck on 10GBase-T ports. The jump is worth it when the switch and NICs already negotiate 10 Gbps but the old cable limits the link to 1 Gbps. It does not help if the network gear tops out at 1 Gbps or if shielded cable is required for EMI-heavy areas.
