25-foot 3.5mm stereo extension cable

The Cables Unlimited AUD-1000-25 adds 25 feet of reach between a 3.5mm source and a 3.5mm input. A male plug on one end and a female jack on the other let you extend headphones, speakers or a microphone without replacing the original cable. Fully shielded construction with strain relief helps reject EMI and RFI for cleaner signal transfer.

Replacing short factory cables

Factory-supplied audio leads are often too short for desktop speakers, conference microphones or headphone listening positions. This extension bridges that gap when the device cannot be moved closer to the source. The jump is worth it whenever the existing cable falls short of the required run and a single 25-foot link avoids daisy-chaining multiple shorter cords.

Limits of passive 3.5mm extension

Passive analogue extension adds capacitance and resistance proportionally to length, so very long runs can reduce high-frequency detail or lower drive voltage for high-impedance headphones. The 25-foot length suits typical near-field monitoring and headphone use but may not drive demanding loads at maximum volume. Users needing balanced signals, digital audio or runs beyond this length should consider active or alternative interconnect solutions.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5 mm male plug fit a standard headphone jack on my speaker?

Yes, the male end is a standard 3.5 mm stereo plug that fits any 3.5 mm audio output jack on speakers, PCs or portable players.

How do I connect the 25-foot cable without stressing the plugs?

Route the cable loosely, then seat each 3.5 mm connector fully until it clicks; the moulded strain relief absorbs tension so the solder joints inside the plugs do not take the load.

What part of the 25-foot cable wears out first and how do I spot it?

The shielding and strain relief at each 3.5 mm end degrade first; inspect for cracked moulding, intermittent sound when the cable moves, or visible wire mesh poking through the jacket.
