  • IP67 enclosure survives harsh weather from -40 to +65 °C
  • Multi-hop mesh extends coverage without extra cables

Outdoor Wi-Fi for high-density public access

The cnPilot E510 delivers enterprise-grade 802.11ac Wave 2 connectivity with 2x2 MIMO and multi-user MIMO for outdoor environments. A quad-core CPU drives beam steering, airtime fairness and VHT rates. The IP67-rated, UV-resistant enclosure operates from -40C to +65C and includes a cold-start heater for reliable service in extreme conditions.

Wave 2 capacity limits in dense RF environments

The 2x2 MIMO radio supports two spatial streams per band on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. In high-density deployments the available airtime and channel width constrain aggregate throughput per sector. Multi-user MIMO improves efficiency when multiple compatible clients are active, but total capacity remains bounded by the two-stream PHY and the shared medium.

Upgrade from single-radio or legacy outdoor APs

This unit replaces older single-band or 802.11n outdoor access points that lack multi-user MIMO, beam steering or integrated mesh. The jump is worthwhile when you need 360-degree coverage, seamless roaming between indoor and outdoor cnPilot APs, and remote troubleshooting with packet capture and RF scanning without a dedicated controller.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the E510 for a site that needs 360 degree outdoor coverage?

The E510 provides 360 degree antenna coverage in an IP67 enclosure rated for -40C to +65C operation, making it suited for full outdoor exposure.

What does the 802.11ac Wave 2 label mean for real-world throughput on this AP?

It supports multi-user MIMO and beam steering on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, allowing simultaneous streams to multiple clients for higher aggregate capacity.

Does the IP67 rating limit the mounting options or backhaul choices?

The rugged enclosure includes extended ESD and surge protection plus a cold-start heater, so it can be pole- or wall-mounted outdoors without extra weatherproofing.
