Metal rack-mount switch with 24 PoE ports and four SFP+ uplinks

Cambium Networks

Cambium Networks MX-EX2028PXA-U 24-port PoE+ access point

SKU CH-73CR-K7C1E MPN MX-EX2028PXA-U

A cloud-managed 24-port Gigabit PoE+ switch with 400 W budget, four 10 Gbps SFP+ uplinks and Layer 3 routing

  • Free cloud management via cnMaestro simplifies operations
  • Zero-touch deployment automates setup and cuts errors
  • 24 PoE+ ports with 400 W budget power devices directly
  • 128 Gbps non-blocking throughput handles heavy traffic
  • Four 10 Gbps SFP+ uplinks provide high-speed aggregation

Switch purpose

The Cambium Networks MX-EX2028PXA-U is a 24-port PoE+ switch built for networks that need cloud-managed Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching with integrated power delivery. It suits IT teams who want zero-touch deployment and unified wired-wireless management through cnMaestro.

Upgrade path

The switch replaces older unmanaged or standalone managed switches that lack PoE+ budgets of 400 watts across 24 ports and 128 Gbps non-blocking throughput. The jump is worth it when you need four 10 Gbps SFP+ uplinks, dynamic routing for up to 512 routes, and automated device profiling without on-site configuration.

Practical limits

The platform caps static routes at 64 and IGMP multicast groups at 256, while LACP trunking supports eight LAGs with eight links each and a 9216 MTU. Fanless operation is not available on this model; two internal fans handle cooling. Uplink flexibility is limited to the four SFP+ ports provided.

Questions about this item

Does the switch include hardware for rack mounting?

Yes, a rack-mount kit is included with the unit for direct installation in a standard rack.

What is the correct order for zero-touch cloud adoption?

Register the serial in cnMaestro first, then connect uplinks and power; reversing the steps prevents automatic configuration download.

When do the two internal fans need attention?

The two internal fans are the only moving parts; plan to clean or replace them when airflow noise increases or after several years of continuous operation.
