Genuine Canon CLI-251 XL Cyan cartridge

This genuine Canon CLI-251 XL Cyan ink cartridge is built for owners of compatible PIXMA iP, iX, MG and MX series printers who want high-yield output. It uses dye-based ink formulated for the ChromaLife100+ system to produce vibrant, fade-resistant prints on Canon photo paper. The single-pack format suits home offices and photo enthusiasts who replace colours individually. Buyers needing pigment-based inks or bulk multi-packs should look elsewhere.

Simple drop-in installation

The cartridge clicks straight into the printer’s colour slot without tools or firmware steps; the printer recognises it immediately. A common issue is leaving the orange protective cap or tape on the vent, which blocks ink flow and causes streaks. Another is inserting the tank into the wrong colour position, which the printer will flag with an error light. Always power the printer on before opening the cover so the carriage moves to the replacement position.

Consistent output over long print runs

The XL capacity is rated for approximately 660 pages, so the ink supply lasts through extended photo sessions without mid-job swaps. Dye-based formulation maintains colour density and gloss uniformity from the first page to the last when used with Canon photo paper. Printheads stay primed during pauses, reducing the need for cleaning cycles that waste ink. Heavy users who print hundreds of pages weekly will still need replacements more often than a bulk tank system allows.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the CLI-251 XL Cyan cartridge is printing correctly after installation?

Print a nozzle-check pattern from the PIXMA maintenance menu; all cyan segments should appear solid with no gaps, confirming the dye-based ink flows properly through the print head.

What comes in the box with the 6449B001 and what must I buy separately?

The single-pack box contains one genuine Canon CLI-251 XL Cyan ink tank; photo paper for ChromaLife100+ prints and any other colour cartridges are sold separately.

Which XL capacity should I choose for my MG6320 — the standard or the 660-page high-yield?

The 6449B001 is the 660-page high-yield XL model; it fits the MG6320 and reduces replacement frequency compared with standard-capacity cartridges.
