Professional Full-Frame Mirrorless Body

The Canon EOS R1 is a compact mirrorless camera body built around a 24.2MP full-frame BSI stacked CMOS sensor. It is designed for professional photographers and filmmakers who need high-speed performance and reliable subject tracking in a single system.

Pre-Continuous Shooting and Eye Control AF

The Pre-Continuous Shooting feature captures the half-second before full shutter press, while Advanced Eye Control AF moves the active focus area to where you look in the viewfinder. Both functions work together with the 4897 phase-detection points to maintain focus on erratic subjects.

Direct Body Mount and Menu Integration

The body-only design mounts directly to RF lenses without adapters, and the new features are accessed through the standard menu system. Photographers who need built-in flash or a second card slot format not listed here will need to verify compatibility separately.

Questions about this item

How often should the mechanical shutter be serviced on the EOS R1?

The EOS R1 uses an electronic shutter for high-speed capture, reducing mechanical wear; Canon service centres can inspect the shutter mechanism during routine checks.

What limits continuous 6K RAW recording at 60 fps on the EOS R1?

Sustained 6K RAW at 60 fps is limited by internal thermal management and card write speed; recording stops when the sensor reaches its safety temperature.

How loud is the EOS R1 when shooting silently all day?

In electronic-shutter mode the EOS R1 is virtually silent; the body remains warm during extended 6K RAW sessions but fan noise is not audible in quiet environments.
