Canon PFI-2700 PBK 5288C001AA 700 mL Photo Black ink cartridges (genuine brands)

Canon PFI-2700 PBK 700 mL Photo Black Cartridge

This genuine Canon ink tank holds 700 mL of pigment-based Photo Black ink and is identified by model number 5288C001AA. It is engineered specifically for the imagePROGRAF GP-2000 and GP-4000 large-format printers. Professional print shops and photographers who need consistent black density on glossy or matte media will use this single cartridge.

Pigment ink requires compatible media

Pigment-based ink sits on the surface of coated papers rather than absorbing into uncoated stock, so output quality drops on plain office paper. The GP-2000 and GP-4000 must run regular nozzle checks and head cleanings to prevent clogging, especially after idle periods. Print permanence and colour gamut are limited to the capabilities of these two printer models and the ink formulation supplied.

Straightforward tank swap with common pitfalls

Installation consists of opening the printer's ink bay, removing the empty tank, and inserting the new one until it clicks; the printer then primes the lines automatically. Errors occur when the cartridge is not fully seated, when the chip contacts are dirty, or when a non-genuine tank is rejected by the firmware. Cold ink should reach room temperature before use to avoid air bubbles in the feed system.
