Compact 3-Track USB Reader

The Card Device Expert 90 is a USB magnetic-stripe reader that plugs into any host with a standard USB keyboard port. It requires no driver or software and appears to the system as a keyboard, so it works in text editors, spreadsheets and POS applications immediately. Its small footprint suits tight counter spaces or mobile setups.

Suits simple swipe workflows.

This unit reads up to three tracks of high-coercivity magnetic data bi-directionally and handles worn or high-jitter cards reliably. It is built for over 1000000 swipes and includes threaded inserts for fixed mounting. Buyers who need EMV chip reading, NFC contactless support or encrypted PIN entry should look at a different device.

ISO 7811 and 7812 decoding standard compliance

The reader conforms fully to ISO 7811 and ISO 7812 magnetic-card decoding standards and also supports AAMVA and most other common card data formats. Intelligent indicator lights confirm when a swipe is captured correctly. This standards compliance is the key specification that determines whether the reader will work with your existing card base.

Questions about this item

How many swipes is the MSR90 rated for before the magnetic head needs replacement?

The reader is rated for over 1,000,000 card swipes, so the magnetic head should not need replacement under normal use.

What limits continuous operation on the MSR90 during a busy shift?

The USB keyboard interface draws minimal power and has no moving parts, so sustained use is limited only by the host system's USB port capacity.

Does the MSR90 produce noticeable noise or heat when running all day?

The device operates silently with no fan and generates negligible heat due to its low-power magnetic decoding chip.
