31 mm 82° Luminos eyepiece

The Celestron Luminos 31 mm eyepiece provides an 82° apparent field of view through a 2" barrel. Fully multi-coated optics with a six or seven element design deliver bright, high-contrast images. A 27 mm eye relief allows comfortable viewing with or without glasses. The polished anodised aluminium body includes a rubber grip and a twist-up eyecup.

Wide-field visual astronomy

Observers who want immersive deep-sky and wide-field views will benefit from the expansive field and long eye relief. The parfocal design lets you swap between Luminos eyepieces with minimal refocusing. Buyers needing a different focal length or a barrel size other than 2" should consider other models.

31 mm focal length

The 31 mm focal length sets the magnification and true field of view for any given telescope. Match this focal length to your instrument's focal ratio to achieve the desired exit pupil and field coverage. The 2" threaded barrel accepts standard filters.

Questions about this item

Does the 2" barrel fit my telescope's focuser?

The eyepiece uses a standard 2" barrel, which matches most modern telescope focusers and diagonals designed for that size.

How do I set the retractable eyecup correctly for my 27mm eye relief?

Twist the rubber grip around the barrel to raise or lower the eyecup; the common mistake is leaving it fully extended while wearing glasses, which vignettes the 82° field.

Will the threaded barrel accept my existing 2" filters?

Yes, the insert barrel is threaded for standard 2" astronomy filters, so you can screw them in directly without an adapter.
