What the LC90 is

The Choyong LC90 is a portable multi-band radio that receives AM, FM, longwave and shortwave with SSB, plus internet stations over 2.4 WiFi or 4G. It has a built-in 5000mAh rechargeable battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an external antenna connector. Two-way speakers with a mid-bass driver, silk dome tweeter and passive radiator handle audio output.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Travellers and hobbyists who want one device for analogue bands, global internet radio and podcasts will appreciate the GPT voice search and the ability to push stations from the Choyong website. Buyers who need DAB+ or HD Radio reception, or who require a larger display for detailed metadata, will not find those features here.

Behaviour during extended use

The 5000mAh battery powers hours of continuous streaming or analogue listening before a recharge is needed. The compact chassis measuring 7.87 by 1.57 by 4.8 inches dissipates heat from the speaker amplifiers without a fan, so surface temperatures stay moderate during long sessions. Bluetooth and TF card playback add further load without thermal throttling.
