Solar post cap for metal posts

This two-pack of black aluminum Imperial solar caps is made for steel and aluminum posts. Adapters let each unit sit on a 2.5 by 2.5, 2.25 by 2.25 or 2 by 2 post. The cast aluminum body carries a powder-coated finish that resists weather without painting.

Warm and cool light modes

A three-position switch selects warm white, cool white or off, changing the colour temperature between 4500 and 5500 Kelvin. High-output surface-mount LEDs deliver 10 lumens and activate automatically at dusk. One long-life AA Ni-MH rechargeable battery is supplied with each cap.

Fits three post sizes

The included adapters cover the three stated dimensions, so the cap works only with posts that match one of those exact sizes. Buyers with larger, smaller or non-square posts will need a different mounting solution.

Questions about this item

How often will the AA Ni-MH rechargeable battery need replacing?

The included AA Ni-MH battery is long-life; typical service is one to two years before a swap is needed.

What limits continuous illumination after a cloudy day?

The 10 lumen LED draws on the single AA cell, so stored solar charge is the first limit on all-night runtime.

Does the black powder-coated cast aluminum get hot in full sun?

The aluminium housing warms in direct sun but stays cool enough to touch; the LED itself runs at low power and adds minimal heat.
