An active adapter converts a DisplayPort 1.4 output to HDMI 2.0a for 4K 60Hz HDR displays with audio support
This active adapter connects a DisplayPort 1.4 source to an HDMI 2.0a display, supporting 4K at 60 Hz with HDR. It is built for users who need to link a laptop or desktop graphics output to a UHD TV, monitor or projector that only accepts HDMI input.
Passive cables often fail at 4K 60 Hz or cannot pass HDR metadata, while this active design maintains 5.4 Gbit/s throughput and supports both static and dynamic HDR. The jump is worth it when your display requires HDCP 2.2 handshakes, CEC tunnelling or 1080p at 120 Hz, which passive links cannot reliably deliver.
HDMI 2.0a caps video at 4K 60 Hz YCbCr 4:2:2 12 bpc or 4:2:0 16 bpc, so 4K 120 Hz or 8K signals are not possible through this connector. HDR only works when both the source supports DisplayPort 1.4 and the sink supports HDR over HDMI 2.0a or 2.0b, and down-sampling may occur with older display revisions.

The adapter plugs into a standard DisplayPort 1.4 male port on the source and provides a 19-pin HDMI 2.0a female port for the display cable.
Insert the DisplayPort male end into the source, then attach the HDMI cable; the source must run DisplayPort 1.4 with HDR turned on in its display settings.
The active adapter has no user-serviceable parts and no specified service interval; it is replaced only if it fails.
