Industrial USB-to-serial hub

The CoolGear USB2-8COMi-SI-TB adds eight RS-232/422/485 ports to a PC through a single USB 2.0 link. Each port reaches 300 to 921.6K bps with 2K byte transmit and receive buffers. A Genesys GT852G hub chip manages traffic without consuming IRQ, DMA or I/O resources. The metal enclosure mounts on DIN rail for cabinet installation.

Isolation and cabling kit

Optical isolation rated at 3KV, 15KV ESD protection and 600W surge protection guard every port against industrial transients. Eight 4-pin DIP switches let you select RS-232 3-wire or RS-422/485 4-wire and 2-wire modes per port. Screw-lock terminal blocks secure field wiring. An AC-to-DC 12 V 1 A supply powers the isolated side. TxD and RxD LEDs show live port activity.

USB 2.0 bandwidth limit

The upstream USB 2.0 connection caps aggregate throughput well below the theoretical sum of eight 921.6K bps channels. Heavy simultaneous traffic on all ports will queue at the hub. Virtual COM drivers cover Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, 2003 and 2000; other operating systems need their own driver support. No IRQ, DMA or I/O port configuration is required.
