Eight-port serial adapter for industrial integration

The USB-8COMi-RM adds eight independent RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 COM ports to a host system over a single USB connection. Each port is configured through its own external 4-pin DIP switch, so mode changes require no chassis disassembly. The unit installs as standard Windows COM ports and includes both DIN rail brackets and 19 rack-mount kits for flexible deployment in cabinets or enclosures.

Sustained operation with built-in power supply

A 100V-240V internal switching supply powers all eight ports without drawing current from the USB bus, preventing voltage drop during long cable runs or multi-drop networks. Full RS-232 modem control signals and hardware or software flow control are maintained on every channel, while automatic transmit/receive handling keeps 2-wire RS-485 half-duplex links stable under continuous load. Termination and biasing options further protect signal integrity in electrically noisy environments.

Replaces multiple single-port converters

One USB-8COMi-RM consolidates up to eight separate USB-to-serial dongles or internal expansion cards, reducing cabling, driver instances and points of failure. The jump is worth it when a PLC, barcode scanner array, POS cluster or factory automation cell needs several serial links with independent mode selection and reliable power. It is not suited for applications that require only one or two ports, or for systems lacking a free USB host connection.
