Purpose and compatibility

This adapter connects a DVI-D male output on a desktop or laptop to a VGA female input on a monitor, projector or HDTV. It supports PC graphics resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz and HDTV resolutions up to 1080p at 60 Hz. No drivers or software are required for installation.

Resolution headroom

The converter handles common office resolutions such as 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 800, 1440 x 900 and 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz. It also supports 1600 x 1200 and 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz. Bandwidth reaches 1.65 Gbps. It cannot transmit audio or support resolutions above 1920 x 1200.

Build and connectors

A 25-pin DVI-D male plug connects to the source and a 15-pin VGA female socket accepts the display cable. The 9.84-inch quad-shielded cable with PVC jacket is designed to reduce signal loss. The short length keeps the link tidy on a desk but limits placement flexibility between devices.
