Compact standby UPS for desktop protection

The CyberPower ST900U is a standby uninterruptible power supply rated at 900 VA and 500 W. It delivers simulated sine wave output at 120 V AC to keep a workstation, router and monitor running during a blackout. The unit suits home-office users who need basic battery backup and surge protection for essential electronics.

Twelve NEMA 5-15R outlets with USB charging

Six outlets provide battery backup plus surge protection while six additional outlets supply surge-only protection. A NEMA 5-15P plug on a five-foot cord connects to a standard wall socket. Two USB Type-A ports share a 2.1 A output for charging phones or tablets. Audible alarms signal on-battery, low-battery, overload and fault conditions.

Verify load and runtime needs before ordering

The UPS supports a maximum of 500 W; add the wattage of every device you plan to plug into the battery-backed outlets to stay within that limit. At half load the battery lasts 7.5 minutes and at full load only 2 minutes, so the unit is intended for safe shutdown rather than extended operation. Recharge takes eight hours after a discharge.

Software and USB management included

PowerPanel Personal software connects via the USB port to enable automatic file saving and graceful shutdown during extended outages. The unit meets UL 1778, cUL, FCC Class B, CEC and RoHS standards. Surge energy rating is 890 joules. Input voltage range spans 96 V to 140 V AC at 47 to 63 Hz.

Questions about this item

What does the USB port on the ST900U actually let me monitor or control?

The USB port connects the UPS to a computer running PowerPanel Personal software, enabling monitoring of battery status, load level, and automatic graceful shutdown during extended outages.

Will the ST900U fit on a standard 120 V circuit with a NEMA 5-15R wall receptacle?

Yes, the unit ships with a 5 ft NEMA 5-15P input cord that plugs directly into any standard 120 V, 15 A wall outlet.

How do I install the ST900U so the battery is actually connected and not just the surge protection?

Plug the UPS into the wall, press the power button to turn it on, connect the USB cable to your PC, install PowerPanel Personal, then verify the software reports "Online" before attaching critical loads.
