Compact 685 VA desktop UPS

The CyberPower CP685AVR is a line-interactive battery backup rated at 685 VA and 390 W with eight NEMA 5-15R outlets. It connects to a 120 V supply through a NEMA 5-15P plug and protects connected PCs, networking gear or home entertainment equipment from surges and brief outages.

AVR extends battery life under fluctuating mains

Automatic Voltage Regulation corrects minor voltage variations without draining the sealed lead-acid cells, so the battery is reserved for genuine blackouts. At half load the unit runs for about 10 minutes and at full load for roughly 2 minutes, giving enough time for an orderly shutdown. Recharging takes 8 hours.

USB and serial ports enable managed shutdown

The bundled PowerPanel software communicates over USB or serial to trigger automatic file saves and OS shutdown when utility power fails. Data-line protection covers one RJ11/45 combo jack and one RG-6 coax connection. Safety approvals include UL 1778, cUL and FCC Class B.

Questions about this item

How loud does the CyberPower CP685AVR run and how much heat does it produce when it powers my desktop all day?

The unit is designed to minimise noise for a quieter workspace and operates efficiently to reduce power consumption; no decibel or thermal-output figures are published.

What cables or connectors must I already have to plug the CP685AVR into the wall and link it to my PC?

It ships with a NEMA 5-15P input cord for a standard 120 V outlet and provides USB and serial ports for management; use the matching USB or serial cable for your computer.

Will the simulated sine-wave output and AVR feature on the CP685AVR work safely with an older power supply that has active PFC?

The UPS delivers simulated sine-wave output and uses Automatic Voltage Regulation to correct minor fluctuations without battery drain, which is compatible with most desktop and networking equipment.
