What this cord does

This DEALTUS WA-001 power extension cord adds six feet of reach for two-prong devices such as lamps, chargers and power adapters. The inline on-off switch lets you cut power without unplugging. It is rated for 12 amps at 125 volts in North America and 6 amps at 250 volts for European use.

Build and daily use

The cord uses SPT-2 16AWG copper conductors inside a moulded PVC jacket for durability. Both the right-angle NEMA 1-15P male plug and the NEMA 1-15R female receptacle are polarized to match household outlets. UL and CUL listings confirm the construction meets recognised safety standards.

Limits of the standard

The two-prong polarized design carries no ground connection, so it cannot be used with equipment that requires a three-prong grounded plug. Maximum continuous load is 12 amps at 125 volts; exceeding this rating risks overheating. The fixed six-foot length cannot be extended by chaining additional cords.

Questions about this item

What does the 12 A 125 V rating on the inline switch mean for the devices I can plug in?

The switch is rated for up to 12 amps at 125 volts, so the total draw of everything connected must stay at or below 12 A.

What clearance does the right-angle NEMA 1-15P plug need behind furniture?

The right-angle moulding sits flush against the wall, so the cord exits sideways and needs only a few millimetres of gap behind a desk or cabinet.

How do I make sure the polarised NEMA 1-15R receptacle accepts my device’s plug correctly?

Match the wide blade of your device’s plug to the wide slot on the female end; the polarised design prevents it from going in the wrong way.
