Business creator laptop

The Dell 16 is a business and creator laptop built around an AMD 8-core Ryzen 7 250 processor with a base clock of 3.3GHz and a max boost up to 5.1GHz. It ships with 32GB DDR5 memory and a 2TB SSD for storage. The 16.0 inch WUXGA touchscreen runs at 1920x1200 resolution and uses integrated AMD Radeon 780M graphics.

Port limits

Connectivity includes 2 x USB-A 3.2, 1 x USB-C 3.2 and 1 x HDMI 1.4 for external displays. Wireless is handled by Wi-Fi 6. The 41Wh battery and a weight of 4.37 pounds define the mobile runtime and carry comfort. Dimensions are 9.87 x 14.07 x .72 inches.

Touchscreen decides

The defining specification is the 16 inch WUXGA touchscreen with integrated Radeon 780M graphics, which suits pen input and colour work but cannot drive high-refresh external gaming panels. Buyers who need discrete GPU power or more than one USB-C video output should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 32GB DDR5 or the 2TB SSD version of this Dell 16?

This model ships with both 32GB DDR5 memory and a 2TB SSD already installed, so no choice between them is needed.

What does the 5.1GHz boost clock on the Ryzen 7 250 mean for everyday work?

The processor can reach 5.1GHz for short bursts, speeding up single-thread tasks like app launches or spreadsheet recalculations before returning to the 3.3GHz base.

How does the USB-C 3.2 port limit external display or drive speeds?

The USB-C 3.2 connection runs at 3.2 standard rates, so attached drives or monitors are capped at that interface's maximum throughput.
