Dell Latitude 7420 14" Notebook

The Dell Latitude 7420 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-1145G7 quad-core processor running at 2.60 GHz. It comes with 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB solid-state drive. The system runs Windows 10 Pro out of the box.

Suited for mobile professionals needing integrated

This configuration suits office workers and students who need a light 14-inch device for documents, web apps and video calls. The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics and non-touch Full HD screen handle everyday tasks well. Buyers who want a dedicated GPU for 3D work or a touchscreen for pen input should look at something else.

16 GB soldered memory decides upgrade path

The 16 GB RAM capacity is the specification that determines long-term usability because the memory is not user-expandable. If your workload regularly exceeds this amount, the laptop will bottleneck. Buyers comfortable with 16 GB for the device lifespan will find the 512 GB SSD and quad-core CPU a balanced package.

How do I install the 512 GB SSD in the Latitude 7420, and which step do people often get wrong?

The 512 GB SSD is already installed from the factory. No user installation is required, so there is no step to get wrong.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16 GB memory need later?

The 16 GB memory is soldered to the board and cannot be replaced or upgraded. No user maintenance is possible.

What limit shows up first on the Intel Iris Xe graphics under sustained use?

The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics share system memory and thermal headroom with the i5-1145G7, so thermal throttling is the first limit during sustained loads.
