180W 19.5V laptop charger

This 180 watt AC adapter delivers 19.5 volts at 9.23 amps through a 5.5 by 2.5 millimetre barrel connector. It suits owners of compatible MSI and Sager notebooks who need a replacement power supply. The unit accepts 100 to 240 volt input at 50 to 60 hertz for worldwide use.

5.5×2.5 mm barrel connector

The decisive specification is the DC plug size of 5.5 millimetres outer diameter by 2.5 millimetres inner diameter with no centre pin. Only laptops that require exactly this connector and the 19.5 volt 9.23 amp output will work; models needing 11.8 amp 230 watt or 16.9 amp 330 watt units are not supported.

US power cord included

The package supplies a US mains cord so the charger can be plugged in immediately without sourcing a separate cable. No additional adapters or software are bundled, so buyers must verify their laptop’s connector and power rating before purchase.

Questions about this item

What does the 180W rating actually deliver to a laptop?

The adapter supplies 19.5V at 9.23A, giving a maximum of 180W to compatible MSI and Sager models such as the NP7876 or NP8956.

What does the 5.5x2.5mm barrel connector limit in practice?

The 5.5mm by 2.5mm plug fits only laptops that use that exact centre-positive barrel size; it will not work with Dell, Acer or MSI units that need a different connector or a pin.

What clearance and weight should I allow for the brick and cord?

The charger weighs 0.753kg and includes a US two-pin power cord, so allow space for a standard brick plus the cable length.
