Dell Latitude 12-7290 12.5" Laptop

This refurbished Dell Latitude 12-7290 is a compact 12.5 inch business laptop running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. It is built around an Intel Core i5-7300U dual-core processor with 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. The non-touch display offers a 1366 x 768 resolution.

Suits mobile professionals needing a light Windows

This unit suits mobile professionals who need a light Windows machine with a backlit keyboard, webcam, WLAN and Bluetooth for everyday office tasks. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a higher resolution panel or more internal storage should look at something else.

The 12.5 inch 1366 x 768 non-touch screen decides

The 12.5 inch 1366 x 768 non-touch screen is the specification that decides whether this is the right part. If the workflow demands touch input, a sharper pixel density or a larger display area, this laptop will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB SSD in the Latitude 12-7290, and which step is often missed?

Remove the base cover, insert the drive into the internal slot, secure it with the retention screw, then reconnect the battery before closing the case — skipping the battery reconnect prevents the BIOS from detecting the new SSD.

What maintenance will the 16GB memory configuration need over time?

The memory is soldered to the board, so no module replacement is possible; keep the ventilation clear and run the built-in Dell diagnostics annually to catch any thermal degradation early.

Which limit appears first during sustained loads on the Core i5-7300U?

The dual-core processor hits its thermal ceiling before the 16GB memory or 256GB SSD become bottlenecks, causing clock-speed throttling under prolonged heavy workloads.
