Latitude 5290 12.5″ 2-in-1

This new detachable laptop runs Windows 11 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 8 GB of soldered DDR4 memory and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. The 12.5″ FHD IPS touchscreen resolves at 1920 x 1080 and is driven by integrated Intel HD Graphics 620. It includes a stylus pen and a 65-watt AC adapter.

Mobile professionals needing pen input

The convertible design suits users who switch between typing and handwritten notes on the move. Buyers who require user-upgradable memory or a discrete graphics engine for heavy 3D work should consider other form factors. The single memory slot is populated and capped at 16 GB maximum.

512 GB NVMe SSD

The M.2 drive supplies 512 GB of solid-state storage with NVMe protocol speeds. That capacity decides whether the device can hold a full local workload or must lean on cloud or external drives.

Questions about this item

How do I attach the detachable keyboard to the 12.5 inch touchscreen and what step is often missed?

Align the magnetic connectors on the bottom edge of the 1920 x 1080 panel and press firmly until the 8 GB DDR4 system detects the keyboard; the step often missed is pairing the stylus pen via Bluetooth 4.2 before first use.

What component will need replacement first during the life of this 512 GB NVMe unit?

The 65-watt AC adapter is the most likely part to require replacement before the soldered 8 GB DDR4 memory or the PCIe M.2 solid state drive.

Which hardware limit appears first when the Intel Core i5-8350U runs sustained workloads?

The Intel HD Graphics 620 thermal ceiling throttles the quad-core processor before the 16 GB maximum memory capacity or the single Thunderbolt 3 port bandwidth become bottlenecks.
