Latitude 5290 detachable for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5290 is a detachable 2-in-1 laptop built for professionals who need a tablet and keyboard in one device. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe SSD. The 12.5-inch FHD IPS touchscreen supports pen input and includes a detachable travel keyboard.

Sustained performance with integrated graphics

Under continuous load the Intel HD Graphics 620 handles office applications, video playback and light creative tasks without a discrete GPU. The 65-watt AC adapter powers the system while charging the battery during extended sessions. Thermal management is designed for the slim 0.7-inch chassis, so performance remains steady for typical business workloads rather than heavy rendering or gaming bursts.

Upgrade from older ultraportables with limited ports

This model replaces earlier 12-inch convertibles that lacked USB Type-C with DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. The jump is worthwhile when you need modern docking options, a pen-enabled touchscreen and NVMe storage speed in a sub-4lb package. It is not suited for buyers who require user-upgradeable memory, larger screen real estate or discrete graphics performance.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 65-watt AC adapter supply to the i5-8350U during all-day use?

The included 65-watt AC adapter powers the Intel Core i5-8350U and charges the battery while you work.

Which peripherals do I already need to use the two USB Type-C ports with DisplayPort functionality?

You need monitors or docks that accept DisplayPort over USB-C, plus any USB-C cables or adapters required by those devices.

Will the Thunderbolt 3 port work with my older Thunderbolt 2 dock?

Thunderbolt 3 uses a USB-C connector, so a Thunderbolt 2 dock requires a certified adapter to connect.
