Built for mobile professionals

The Latitude 5290 is a detachable 2-in-1 laptop with a 12.5 inch FHD touchscreen and an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD are soldered onboard, so the system ships ready for demanding workloads. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed on this new unit.

Connectivity and display limits

Two USB Type-C ports carry DisplayPort video and Thunderbolt 3 data, while a single USB 3.0 port handles legacy peripherals. Wireless networking uses 802.11ac Wi-Fi paired with Bluetooth 4.2. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 drives the internal 1920 x 1080 IPS panel and one external display, but cannot accelerate modern 3D workloads.

Upgrade considerations

Soldered memory caps total RAM at 16 GB and the M.2 slot is already occupied, so storage expansion requires replacing the drive. Buyers who need user-upgradable memory, discrete graphics or additional USB-A ports should look elsewhere. The compact chassis and 65-watt adapter suit frequent travel, not high-performance docking setups.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1 TB NVMe SSD or look for a larger drive?

The 1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD is the only storage fitted; there is no second M.2 slot, so capacity is fixed at 1 TB.

What does the i7-8650U 1.9 GHz quad-core actually deliver in daily work?

It runs at 1.9 GHz base and can boost to 4.2 GHz across four cores, giving strong responsiveness for office apps and multitasking.

What can the two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 really drive?

Each Type-C port carries Thunderbolt 3 and DisplayPort, so you can connect two external monitors or a dock plus high-speed storage simultaneously.
