Dell Latitude 5420 Rugged laptop

This 14.0-inch FHD non-touch laptop uses an Intel Core i7-8650U processor with four cores and a 4.20 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16GB memory and a 1TB SSD running Windows 11 Pro. The rugged chassis meets MIL-STD testing for field work.

Suited for mobile professionals needing a durable

Field technicians and first responders who require a semi-rugged design with optional LTE, native serial and RJ-45 ports will benefit. Buyers who need a lighter ultra-portable or a larger screen should look elsewhere.

The 1TB removable PCIe storage bay decides fit

The single PCIe storage bay accepts one removable drive, so total capacity is limited to that device. If your workload demands multiple internal drives or a second storage slot, this chassis cannot accommodate it.

Questions about this item

Does the box contain the laptop only, or are a power adapter and a stylus included?

The unit ships with the Latitude 5420 Rugged notebook, a power adapter and a 3-cell battery; the stylus is an optional accessory that must be purchased separately.

Which configuration should I choose if I need the 1.90 GHz Intel Core i7-8650U with 16 GB memory and a 1 TB SSD?

The listed model already provides that exact specification — quad-core i7-8650U, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB solid-state storage — so no further selection is required.

How does the 4.20 GHz turbo frequency behave when the 14.0" FHD panel is driven at 1920 x 1080 under sustained load?

The processor can reach 4.20 GHz on short bursts; thermal limits of the rugged chassis will determine how long that speed is maintained during continuous workloads.
