Built for harsh environments

The DELL Latitude 5424 Rugged is a new 14.0-inch laptop designed for field work where standard notebooks fail. Its chassis meets military-grade testing for shock, vibration and extreme temperatures. The Quad-core Intel Core i5-8350U processor reaches 3.60 GHz with 6MB cache. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Dual SSD storage and field connectivity

Two M.2 solid-state drives provide 256GB and 2TB capacity for the operating system and large data sets. 32GB DDR4 memory supports multitasking with heavy workloads. Ports include USB 3.0, USB Type-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, a serial port and RJ-45 Ethernet. Wireless LAN and Bluetooth are integrated; the supplier notes WWAN LTE and GPS options may not be included. A Dell OEM charger is supplied.

Straightforward deployment with rugged caveats

The laptop arrives ready to use with Windows 11 Pro activated. Driver support is standard for the Intel platform. Hot-swap bridge battery and spare charger accessories are optional and not included. The non-touch screen lacks glove-friendly input. Buyers who need touchscreen operation or guaranteed WWAN connectivity should verify configuration before purchase.

Questions about this item

How long will the internal 6-cell or 9-cell battery packs last before they need replacement?

The rugged chassis uses internal 6-cell or 9-cell battery packs designed for all-day shifts; an optional hot-swap bridge battery lets you change packs without shutting down.

Which component hits its limit first when the i5-8350U runs at 3.60 GHz for hours?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares thermal headroom with the quad-core processor, so sustained turbo clocks will throttle before the 32 GB DDR4 or dual M.2 SSDs saturate.

How loud do the cooling fans get during a full workday under load?

The sealed rugged chassis relies on internal fans to cool the i5-8350U and UHD 620 graphics; expect audible airflow when the processor holds 3.60 GHz for extended periods.
