Business laptop with dual SSD storage

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a new 14.0-inch business laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It combines an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory. Storage uses a 256 GB M.2 primary drive plus a 2 TB secondary SSD for large local data sets. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS non-touch display.

Upgrade from single-drive or HDD-only systems

Replacing a single-drive laptop or one still using a mechanical hard drive removes the storage bottleneck and adds capacity without sacrificing speed. The jump is worth it when workloads require both fast boot and application loads plus room for large project files or media libraries. The dual SSD layout keeps the operating system and active data on the faster M.2 drive while archiving bulk data on the larger secondary drive.

Mobile professionals needing capacity and ports

This configuration suits mobile professionals who need abundant local storage, a full port selection including HDMI, VGA, RJ45, USB 3.1 Gen1, USB Type-C with DisplayPort and an SD slot. Buyers who want a dedicated graphics processor, a touchscreen, Thunderbolt certification or a lighter ultraportable chassis should look at something else.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.8" width and 9.87" depth fit my current laptop sleeve?

The chassis measures 14.8 inches wide by 9.87 inches deep, so compare those dimensions with your sleeve's internal space.

Which screw or latch secures the 256GB M.2 primary drive during installation?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the M.2 drive at an angle into the slot, then fasten the single retention screw — skipping that screw is the common mistake.

Can the 8GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later to the 32GB maximum?

Yes, the board supports up to 32GB of DDR4, so you can add or replace modules when you need more capacity.
