Dell Latitude 5590 Quad-Core Ultrabook

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 15.6 inch FHD business laptop powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and features a 256 GB M.2 primary drive paired with a 2 TB secondary solid-state drive for extensive local storage. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS non-touch display.

Suits mobile professionals needing massive

This configuration suits users who require both fast boot speeds and very high on-board capacity without external drives. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a discrete graphics card, or more than 8 GB of system memory should look at alternative models. The 1.70 GHz base frequency with 3.60 GHz turbo handles typical office workloads but is not aimed at sustained heavy compute tasks.

Dual SSD layout: 256 GB M.2 plus 2 TB secondary

The defining specification is the dual solid-state drive arrangement totalling over 2 TB of flash storage. The primary 256 GB M.2 unit holds the operating system and applications while the 2 TB secondary drive stores large project files and archives. This layout removes the need for mechanical hard drives or external enclosures for most business users.

Questions about this item

What are the physical dimensions and weight of the 5590 chassis?

The laptop measures 14.8 inches wide, 9.87 inches deep and .9 inches high at the front, weighing 4.19 lbs.

Which screw or latch must be released first when opening the base to reach the M.2 slot, and what mistake do installers make?

Remove all visible base screws before prying the palm-rest; the common error is forcing the clips while a hidden screw near the hinge still holds the case.

Which storage drive will need replacement first, and how can it be swapped?

The 256 GB M.2 primary SSD handles the OS and sees the most write cycles; swap it by removing the base cover, releasing the single retention screw and sliding in a new M.2 module.
