Purpose-built ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 12.5-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-7300U processor at 2.60 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD running Windows 10 Pro. The non-touch display offers a 1366 x 768 resolution with an anti-glare finish.

Fit and alternatives

This configuration suits mobile professionals who need a lightweight chassis with a full-size keyboard, HDMI 1.4, VGA, USB 3.1 Gen 1 and a microSD 4.0 card reader. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a higher-resolution panel or a discrete graphics card should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, so the 8 GB of installed RAM directly limits graphics performance and multitasking headroom. The two memory slots support up to 32 GB total if extra capacity is required.
