Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0 inch work laptop built for professionals who need a portable Windows 11 Pro machine. It ships with an Intel Core i5-8350U processor running at 1.7 GHz, 8 GB of memory and a 256 GB solid-state drive. The unit is sold new and includes a functional battery and AC adapter.

8 GB soldered memory limits upgrades

The single specification that decides fit is the 8 GB memory capacity, which cannot be expanded on this model. Buyers who need more memory for virtual machines, large datasets or heavy multitasking should look elsewhere. The 256 GB SSD provides the primary storage and can be replaced if a larger drive is required later.

Straightforward SSD swap if needed

Installation is simple because the laptop arrives fully configured with Windows 11 Pro already licensed and activated. The only hardware change most users consider is swapping the 256 GB SSD, which requires removing the base cover and disconnecting the battery first. The 90-day supplier warranty covers functional defects discovered during initial use.
