Dell Latitude 5490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i5-8350U processor. It ships with Windows 10 Pro, 16GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. The integrated graphics and non-touch screen suit office productivity and remote management tasks.

16GB memory and 512GB SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 16GB memory paired with a 512GB SSD. This combination handles multitasking across browser tabs, office suites and video calls without swapping. Buyers who need more storage or user-upgradeable memory slots should consider a different chassis.

Thermals, noise and power in normal use

The low-power 1.70GHz U-series chip keeps heat and fan noise modest during typical document and web workloads. The compact 14.0-inch chassis dissipates warmth through a single vent, so surface temperatures stay comfortable on a desk. Battery life varies with screen brightness and wireless activity.

Questions about this item

What does the 1.70 GHz clock speed of the i5-8350U mean for everyday workloads?

The dual-core processor runs at 1.70 GHz base frequency and can boost higher for short bursts, giving responsive performance for office apps, web browsing and light multitasking.

What external displays can I connect through the HDMI and VGA ports?

One HDMI and one VGA port are provided; both support mirroring or extending the desktop to a monitor or projector.

Will this 14.0 inch chassis fit in a standard laptop sleeve?
