14" Ryzen 5 PRO business laptop

The ThinkPad T14s Gen 2 pairs a six-core Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U with 16 GB DDR4 and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe SSD. A 14.0-inch 1920 x 1080 non-touch panel and integrated Radeon Vega 7 graphics handle everyday office workloads. Windows 11 Pro ships pre-installed on a chassis finished in black.

Limits of integrated Vega 7 graphics

The processor tops out at 4.20 GHz turbo across six cores but relies on shared system memory for graphics. Demanding 3D rendering, modern gaming titles or heavy GPU compute will exceed the capabilities of the integrated solution. Buyers who want more graphics headroom should consider a model with discrete graphics.

Upgrade from dual-core ultraportables

Moving from a two- or four-core thin-and-light to this six-core design yields tangible gains in multi-threaded compiling, virtualisation and concurrent video calls. The jump is worth it when workloads regularly saturate fewer cores. Users whose tasks remain single-threaded or browser-bound will see less benefit.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 16 GB DDR4 / 256 GB NVMe configuration or look for a larger drive?

The 16 GB DDR4 memory and 256 GB NVMe PCIe SSD are fixed on this unit; if you need more local storage you would have to add an external drive or replace the internal SSD yourself.

What does the Ryzen 5 5650U 4.20 GHz turbo speed deliver in daily work?

The 6-core processor reaches 4.20 GHz on short bursts, so office suites, video calls and light content creation run smoothly while the low-power design keeps the 14.0" chassis cool and quiet.

Which USB-C standard is fitted and what throughput does it cap at?

Two USB 3.2 Type-C Gen 2 ports provide up to 10 Gbps data and DisplayPort alt-mode, so a single cable can drive an external monitor and transfer files at full speed.
