Professional 15.6-inch workstation

The DELL Latitude 5511 is a new 15.6-inch laptop built around a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10850H six-core processor that reaches 5.10 GHz with turbo. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB PCIe NVMe drive. The 1920 x 1080 IPS panel is non-touch, anti-glare, rated at 220 nits and covers 45 % colour gamut. Windows 10 Pro comes preinstalled.

Connectivity and expansion

Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A with PowerShare, a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with Power Delivery, DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0, RJ45, a wedge lock slot and a 7.4 mm barrel connector handle peripherals and external displays. An integrated uSD reader and optional uSIM tray support removable media and mobile broadband. Wi-Fi 6 provides wireless networking.

Buyers needing more local storage

The 128 GB drive suits users who keep data in the cloud or on a network share; anyone requiring larger onboard capacity should look elsewhere. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics relies on shared system memory, so the machine is not aimed at CAD, rendering or gaming workloads that demand a dedicated GPU.

Questions about this item

What is the 128 GB PCIe nVME SSD's sustained-write bottleneck?

The 128 GB PCIe nVME drive will hit its capacity limit first during sustained heavy writes, leaving no headroom for large temporary files.

How hot and loud does the i7-10850H get under all-day load with only Intel UHD Graphics?

The six-core 2.7 GHz up to 5.10 GHz CPU shares cooling with integrated graphics, so sustained turbo pushes fan noise and surface temperature up noticeably.

Which dock or monitor cables must I already own for the USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 Thunderbolt 3 port?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 certified cable or dock to use Power Delivery, DisplayPort video and 3.2 Gen 2 data on the USB-C port.
