Ultra-portable business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5 inch notebook built for mobile professionals. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB PCIe M.2 SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks.

Suited for office mobility, not heavy graphics

This configuration suits users who need a lightweight, durable chassis with strong multi-tasking memory and fast solid-state storage. The 1366 x 768 non-touch display and integrated graphics make it a poor fit for buyers who want a high-resolution panel, dedicated GPU performance or touchscreen interaction.

12.5 inch 1366 x 768 non-touch display

The screen size and resolution are fixed at 12.5 inches and 1366 x 768 pixels with no touch capability. If your workflow demands a sharper panel, a larger canvas or touch input, this display specification will not meet those requirements.

Questions about this item

Can I connect my older USB 3.0 peripherals to the USB 3.0 ports on this Latitude 7290?

Yes, the two USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with earlier USB devices, so existing keyboards, mice and external drives will work without adapters.

How can I verify that the Intel Core i7-8650U is running at its 4.2 GHz turbo speed under load?

Open Task Manager's Performance tab or a hardware monitor such as HWInfo and watch the core frequency climb toward 4.2 GHz when a demanding single-threaded task runs.

Does the box include a USB-C to HDMI adapter for an external monitor, or must I buy one separately?

The laptop provides USB Type-C ports with DisplayPort functionality, but no video adapter is bundled; a USB-C to HDMI or DisplayPort cable must be purchased separately.
