Business ultraportable for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7400 is a 14.0-inch laptop built around an Intel Core i7-8665U quad-core processor that reaches 4.80 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD running Windows 10 Pro. The carbon-fibre chassis keeps the starting weight at 1.36 kg, suiting consultants and field staff who move between meetings daily.

Thermals and power in daily workloads

Integrated graphics and the low-power U-series CPU limit heat output during typical office tasks such as document editing, video calls and browser sessions. Fan noise remains subdued under light load, and the 7.4 mm barrel connector supplies power without demanding a high-wattage adapter. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch FHD panel draws modest energy, helping battery endurance through a standard workday.

Bundled security and management extras

A physical camera shutter and optional SafeScreen privacy panel block visual snooping without software overhead. Optional fingerprint reader on the power button and Smart Card reader enable password-less sign-in for faster access. Dell Client Command Suite and VMware Workspace ONE integration give IT teams a single console for fleet-wide configuration, while vPro extensions allow remote diagnostics on powered-down units.

Questions about this item

How do I replace the RAM in the Latitude 7400, and which step do people get wrong?

The 16 GB memory is soldered to the board, so it cannot be upgraded or replaced by the user.

What maintenance or replacement will the battery need later?

The internal battery is not user-removable; when runtime drops, a Dell-authorised service visit is required to swap it.

What limit appears first on the i7-8665U during a long heavy workload?

The processor reaches its thermal ceiling and reduces clocks from the 4.8 GHz turbo to stay within its power envelope.
