Business ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 7400 is a 14.0 inch touchscreen laptop built around an Intel Core i7-8665U quad-core processor with a 4.80 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with Windows 10 Pro, 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD in a carbon-fibre chassis weighing 1.36kg. The 1920 x 1080 FHD panel supports touch input and includes an integrated webcam with a privacy shutter option.

Security and management additions

A fingerprint reader on the power button and optional Smart Card reader enable fast, secure sign-in through SafeID. Dell Client Command Suite and VMware Workspace ONE integration allow centralised fleet management, while vPro extensions support remote diagnostics. The digital SafeScreen privacy panel reduces off-axis visibility without extra hardware.

For mobile professionals needing managed endpoints

This configuration suits organisations that require hardware-level security features, remote manageability and a lightweight 14 inch form factor. Buyers who want more storage, discrete graphics or a larger display should look at other models. The single 8GB memory module and 256GB drive limit local workloads without upgrades.

Questions about this item

Will the 8 GB of soldered memory need an upgrade later?

The 8 GB is fixed on the motherboard and cannot be expanded, so any future need for more capacity would require replacing the laptop.

What stops the i7-8665U from holding 4.80 GHz during long workloads?

The processor reduces its speed when the cooling system reaches its thermal limit, which is the first constraint under sustained heavy use.

How loud and hot does the carbon-fibre chassis get when the system runs all day?

The fan stays quiet at idle and spins up under load; the chassis warms near the hinge but remains within normal operating temperatures for a 1.36 kg ultraportable.
