Dell Latitude 7490 14-inch laptop for mobile

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-8650U processor. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SATA SSD. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed. The anti-glare display offers a 1366 x 768 resolution. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output.

Check ports power and OS needs before ordering

Verify that the available ports match your peripherals: Ethernet, DisplayPort, HDMI, USB 3.1, USB-C, a universal audio jack and a micro SD card slot are present. The system ships with a charger and a 42Whr 3-cell battery. Confirm that Windows 10 Pro satisfies your software requirements. No optical drive is included.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The 42Whr battery and low-voltage processor target modest power draw during typical office workloads. Fan noise stays low for document editing and video calls. Sustained heavy tasks will raise surface temperatures and activate cooling. The integrated graphics share system memory and do not add a separate thermal load.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need to buy a charger separately?

The package includes the laptop and a charger, so no separate power adapter is required.

Should I choose the 16 GB DDR4 2400 MHz memory or the 512 GB SATA SSD if I want the faster component?

The 16 GB DDR4 2400 MHz memory runs at a much higher transfer rate than the 512 GB SATA SSD.

What does the 4.2 GHz boost clock mean when I am actually using the laptop?

The Intel Core i7-8650U can reach 4.2 GHz for short bursts during demanding tasks, then drops to lower speeds to manage heat and battery life.
